Fenella Humphreys · violin
One violin. Three centuries.
Fenella Humphreys — two-time BBC Music Magazine Premiere Recording Award winner (2023, 2025) and Wigmore Hall resident for the 2025/26 season — brings a solo recital to Old Romney Church.
At the heart of the programme is Bach's Ciaconna in D minor, one of the pinnacles of the violin repertoire. This is paired with Biber's Passacaglia, miniatures by Nicola Matteis from the 1670s, Sally Beamish's The Lone Seafarer, Caroline Shaw's In Manus Tuas, Anna Berg's Twirling from 2024 and a Glasgow Reel Set by Seonaid Aitken.
Music from the seventeenth-century Baroque through to a piece written last year. All on one instrument.
