Our Approach

At the heart of JAM’s work is a deep commitment to partnership. Each year, we collaborate with over 50 local, regional and national organisations to deliver meaningful cultural activity across Romney Marsh — ensuring our work is rooted in place, responsive to community need, and sustainable for the long term.

By working with communities rather than for them, JAM creates programmes that are artistically ambitious, socially embedded and capable of delivering lasting benefit.

Working in Partnership

Our partners span education, heritage, environment, transport, health and local government. This collaborative approach enables JAM to reach communities that might otherwise face barriers to cultural participation.

Current partners include Romney Marsh Community Hub, Marsh Academy Leisure Centre, Cinemarsh, local councils, churches and schools, Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway, Romney Marsh Historic Churches Trust, RSPB, and Kent Wildlife Trust.

Community Impact

Through these partnerships, JAM is able to deliver free, inclusive arts activity that supports individuals and strengthens communities across rural and dispersed areas.

Our work helps to:
  • Remove barriers to participation in the arts
  • Support older people to remain active and connected
  • Reduce isolation and loneliness
  • Build confidence, resilience and social connection
  • Enhance quality of life across Romney Marsh

Looking Ahead

In 2026, JAM will deepen this collaborative approach through the launch of the Romney Marsh Partnership, strengthening joined-up working across the region and amplifying the collective impact of arts, education and wellbeing activity.

What Our Partners Say

“JAM fills gaps we can’t offer. This improves the social support system, supports our older community to remain active and enhances quality of life.”

Lasting Benefit

Through long-term partnerships and place-based delivery, JAM ensures that community arts are not a one-off intervention, but a sustained and valued part of life on Romney Marsh.
