Watercolour Monotype and Drypoint

A series of four free printmaking workshops with Jillian Bain Christie, making artwork inspired by music performed at that year's JAM on the Marsh festival, from orchestral to tango. JAM supplied a link to the music on registration.

Jillian led participants through the watercolour monotype and drypoint processes. All materials were provided, and all levels of ability were welcome, whether an absolute beginner or an experienced artist.

The four sessions

Session 1. An introduction to and demonstration of the watercolour monotype process. Participants then created and printed their own monotypes.

Session 2. An introduction to and demonstration of the drypoint printing process. Participants then created and printed their own drypoint prints.

Session 3. With some practical experience behind them, participants created a drypoint, a watercolour monotype, or a two plate print combining both, inspired by the festival music.

Session 4. Printing the final images.

Ten places were available. The finished work was shown at the Romney Marsh Community Hub and then transferred to the Marsh Academy Leisure Centre.
