Lost and Found

JAM's 2026 free art projects opened with Lost and Found, a four week project with inspirational artist Victoria Morris, and an introduction to mixed media collage and embroidery.

Together the group explored techniques for combining objects and illustrations into unique artworks mounted on embroidery hoops. Participants were encouraged to bring their own found objects, including postcards and photographs, to inspire their work, and the sessions included a discussion about the importance of storytelling and sustainable creativity.

JAM supplied everything: an A5 sketchbook, embroidery hoops, a selection of threads and yarns, handmade recycled paper, maps and postcards, fabric and felt offcuts, beads and broken jewellery, haberdashery items, paper, pencils, erasers, glue, tape, paper and fabric scissors, colouring pencils, watercolour paints and brushes, ink sticks, oil pastels and fine liners.

Fourteen people met weekly, learning new techniques to combine threads, yarns, handmade recycled paper, beads, maps and postcards, and created captivating collages mounted in embroidery hoops. Each one is different, and each tells a personal story about someone or somewhere lost and found.

The work was shown at the Romney Marsh Community Hub and then transferred to the Marsh Academy Leisure Centre.
