William Sieghart’s Poetry Pharmacy
July 7 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm| Free
Sometimes only a poem will do. These poetic prescriptions and wise words of advice offer comfort, delight and inspiration for all; a space for reflection, and a chance to realize – I’m not the only one who feels like this.
In the years since he first had the idea of prescribing short, powerful poems for all manner of spiritual ailments, William Sieghart has taken his Poetry Pharmacy around the length and breadth of Britain, into the pages of the Guardian, onto BBC Radio 4 and onto television, honing his prescriptions all the time. Sieghart’s ‘The Poetry Pharmacy’ is a pocket-sized book presenting the most essential poems in his dispensary: those which, again and again, have really shown themselves to work. Whether you are suffering from loneliness, lack of courage, heartbreak, hopelessness, or even from an excess of ego, there is something here to ease your pain.
Please join us for this very special event with the founder of National Poetry Day. William will give a talk from 2.30-3pm on the main stage, which will be followed by six 10 minute one-to-one prescription sessions between William and participants.
If you would like to participate in a one-to-one session, places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, and can be booked via the JAM on the Marsh Box Office: 0800 988 7984
This event is in collaboration with Hythe Festival
