10am – 1pm: Drop in Arts & Crafts Workshops

For the youngsters of the family (3+), come and create little woolly sheep, made from card and real Romney Marsh wool. The slightly older children (7+) will make bug houses from recycled milk cartons, filled with fir cones and twigs, for gardens at home. These workshops will be run by Dimity Morgan.

For the slightly older (7+) come and explore painting with Ruth Parkinson.  Children will visit the gallery and Ruth’s paintings.  Inspired by this visit, each child will receive a canvas sketchbook for them to illustrate using acrylic paints.

The children can then take their creations from these workshops home with them.

Storytelling and Natural Puppetry Workshop
Romney Marsh Visitor Centre: 10.30am & 12.15 pm

Children will get the opportunity to turn their imaginations into reality for a for a fun-filled workshop on storytelling and natural puppetry. Creating living creatures from the things people left behind, we will learn to use our natural environment for a way of telling stories about our modern life. Can twigs become a raven? Will we make a unicorn out of pine cones? With teamwork, imagination & play we will test how magic our imaginations can be.

Older visitors can enjoy ‘down time’ by visiting the exhibitions and the café at the Romney Marsh Visitor Centre, throughout the day.  We will be offering a free train service from the Visitor Centre to Hythe where you can enjoy the second half of the day at Hythe Festival’s, Fun on the Green, with lots going on for all the family.

All the events are FREE, but please note that there is LIMITED AVAILABILITY for the Storytelling and Natural Puppetry Workshop. Please book below or call 0800 988 7984 to reserve your place.
