Apart from the great American poet Walt Whitman, all the words are set to English poets, from an anonymous writer of c.1500 to Thomas Hardy. The piece is a fraction under half an hour in length.
2004's programme will also feature Jonathan Dove's The Far Theatricals of Day, co-commissioned by JAM in 2003's concerts. Details of The Far Theatricals of Day appear in 2003 John Armitage Memorial season below.
Other pieces include Fluorescence by Paul Patterson, Plus music submitted to JAM by Alan Charlton, Jonathan Pitkin and Christopher Best.
