Timothy Jackson was born in Preston in 1972, and at the age of fifteen was awarded a scholarship to study horn and composition at the Royal Academy of Music. He continued his studies at the University of Manchester and the Royal Northern College of Music, becoming principal horn of the European Union Youth Orchestra and musical director of the Lancashire Students’ Training Orchestra in 1994. Timothy is now a member of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He has performed as soloist with orchestras including the Manchester Camerata and the London Mozart Players.
Timothy is Composer-in-Association with Onyx Brass, and as a composer and arranger has had works performed and recorded for CD by ensembles as diverse as the Hallé, Ensemble Oxalys, the Lancashire Sinfonietta and the Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields. His pieces have been played all over the world in halls such as the Sydney Opera House and the Royal Albert Hall, and broadcast on national radio in countries including Australia, Belgium, Britain, Canada, France and Switzerland.
