JAM on the Marsh Choral Course
From Bingen to Bingham
The JAM on the Marsh choral course is an eight day course running from 12th – 20th July 2014, based in the ancient churches of Kent’s Romney Marsh. Led by Nicholas Cleobury and Judith Bingham, JAM will bring together a group of people who can learn and enjoy themselves in this unique, natural beauty.
Participants will sing and perform a choral progression through the ages, from Hildegard von Bingen to Judith Bingham via Gibbons, Tallis, Bruckner, Tavener and Gabriel Jackson. This broad swathe of music will drive personal achievement, improve choral technique and performance skills, whilst being both challenging and rewarding. Participants will also learn vocal healthcare and how to protect the voice and get the very best from it. This will involve some one-to-one and sectional sessions with the course leaders, professional singers and vocal coaches.
Lunch will be provided every day, along with the music required, as will transport from the coastal town of Hythe to the churches.
The course includes free tickets to ALL JAM on the Marsh festival events: Rachmaninoff Vespers, Barber Adagio, Vaughan Williams Oboe Concerto, Handel Coronation Anthems and new works by Judith Bingham (oboe concerto) and Giles Swayne (choir, brass and organ).
Visits to Canterbury Cathedral, Sissinghurst Castle and journeys on the famous Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Railway can be arranged.
This eight-day course costs £350 per person.
JAM has secured a special rate with the Mercure Hythe Imperial Hotel & Spa, overlooking the sea, at £75 per night.
