Paul Mealor - Submitted 2003
Paul Mealor was born in St Asaph, North Wales in 1975. Mealor is regarded as one of the leading of the younger generation of Welsh composers. He has studied composition privately with both John Pickard and Robert Saxton, with Hans Abrahamsen and Per Nørgård in Copenhagen, with Magnus Lindberg in Stockholm and at the University of York with Nicola LeFanu. In 1997 he founded The Northop Festival of Music, which has gone on to become one of the leading festivals in North Wales. In 2002 he was appointed Lecturer in Music at the University of Aberdeen, and now divides his time between his cottage in the Scottish Highlands and his home in North Wales.
